Objective

Snow Patrol’s song “What if the Storm Ends” backs up a setting of unusual animals within a forest playing music together as a band. The video’s intention is for the visuals to envoke the same emotions of whimsy and drama as the song yet add intriguing visuals, both more abstract and realistic, with characters and situations.

Process

I drew and designed the characters, and I worked up a storyboard for the video. Puppets of the characters playing their instruments were made in Adobe Character Animator. The style is supposed to be based around nature and wonder, leading to the incorporation of painted backgrounds. Blending modes added more emotions and tensions to the scenes, and footage was incorporated for the thunder sounds and clouds.
