Objective

Outside the Lines was a zine created as a protest against state standardized testing for schools. The book was intended to use a comic book style to show and explain my opinions on state testing in a visually unique, classic, and engaging way. The zine is meant for teens and young adults.

Process

The colors used in the zine are based on the old, faded colors of 1960’s and 1970’s animated cartoons. The comic was drawn in pen, and after being uploaded, it was digitally colored. The cover of the book is newspaper, and it’s meant to replicate typical cover designs for state testbooks.
